Cheap, fast, and small laptop.

My budget is around $700 and less. I need a laptop with LOTS of speed (mostly because of bad experiences from before).

Uses: Writing school papers, surfing the web, and watching LOTS of movies and music.

I'm a student also, so I need something portable, but not as small as netbooks. Around the 13 inch range.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834114791 finds it under 700. That's pretty nice and while I would not play video games on it, it's a size and speed I use daily. I'm typing from my dv6-1251sb now.

about the same unless you find a great deal. Look for what you want and then compare prices. If what you want costs more you will have to prioritize what needs are more important to get it within your price range.
