Cheap Camcorder with the Best Quality Possible

Mar 16, 2011 12:21PM PDT

I'm looking to buy my first camcorder. It is a fairly spontaneous purchase, so I'm not really sure what I will be filming with it.

By cheap, I mean, I've been looking at pocket camcorders primarily. As of now I am debating between the Kodak Xi8 and the Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG10. However, I wanted to get some professional opinions on the matter.

Things/places I am primarily (and thus, will probably be where most of my future footage will be shot):

Indoors at someone's house or apartment
In a moving car (passenger seat)
Disneyland (capturing nighttime events like fireworks would be great)
Concerts (local bands and the Nokia Theater - Video Games Live will definitely be a subject I'll want to capture well)
Walking without a tripod

I hope I have given enough information for you guys to be able to help me out. I am aware that a cheap camera will give me what I pay for, but I'd just like the best of the cheap, basically.

Oh, and I have a MacBook Pro with iMovie and Final Cut Express installed on it, so if there's something I can do about low lighting with either of those, please feel free to add that into your camcorder recommendation.

Thanks!
