Channel Setup on LN46A850?

Feb 19, 2009 10:18PM PST

I been all through the manual, and it refers to Auto setup of the over the air broadcast channels. I run through the setup and then I rotate antenna to get other channels that are available run setup again and new channels found and saved but some of the other channels were deleted. This Tv also has the IR problem that effects other remotes. Service tech is scheduled to call today. But if you can't set up individual channels why bother spending so much on a TV. Now don't get me wrong picture is fantastic, Infolink works great but there is other channels out on over the air I like to watch but to lose some to see others is not right.

W4TBE,

The Auto Scan will erase previously remembered channels in order to pick up the available channels. There is no way to manually add additional channels.

How did the IR inverter board swap work for you?

I did create a service ticket on line over a week ago, but no one had called as of yesterday afternoon. So I called the service company that was shown on ticket and they said that they had not recieved work order to contact Samsung again. So I called Samsung Customer service and they said even creating online service ticket you still need to call them to set up scheduling a Service tech. They did say that a tech sould be contacting me within 2 to 4 days. Here is Ticket #4003173800 if you get a chance to check on it I would appreciate that.

W4TBE,

From what I can tell, we'll be making arrangements for a service center to take care of this. There should be a call within 2-3 business days or so. There is no set service center in your area, so we're looking to find one locally to you and working with them to take care of this issue.

The online tickets usually generate an assignment to a service center. Since there isn't one, we have to do it manually. I'm guessing the CS Rep on the phone didn't see that, as that's not usually the case. Regardless, I apologize for the inconvenience.

Exchanged LN46A850 - Attention Samsung_HD_Tech
Mar 18, 2009 3:54AM PDT

Samsung has opted to exchange a new TV for the one with the IR problems. They said that there was not a close local service tech to do the repair, also that my claim has gone into an extended period that I could opt to exchange my set for a equal or if they didn't have that model in stock they would upgrade to a better set. I finally recieved a email stating that I would be recieving the same model. Trucking company delevered the new set and pickedup the origonal set yesterday morning. So far this set has not shown any IR problem and is working flawlessly. I have a question about the date of manufacture. When I registered the replacement set on line for the warrannty, that page did list a manufacture date of 3/31/2009. How could this be? Have they perfected time travel already? No actually that date did show up when I entered the serial nuber from the new TV set. My wife thinks that they have given us a remanufactured set or a repaired set due to this set not having the label on the front frame that the origonal set had. This is serial number AQF73CNS300298J would you please check about the manufacture date if possiable.
Thank You,

Always end of the month
Mar 18, 2009 6:29AM PDT

From what I've seen, the website always reports the last day of the month as the manufacture date (on my TV, there was only like a day between the manufacture date and the date I bought it, and I'm nowhere near Mexico).

So I think you just got a TV that was manufactured earlier in the month.

W4TBE,

This is actually a really good question. I thought what happened was that the warranty was pro-rated for your situation before it was sent to you, and therefore, has a warranty "with a little extra padding".

Although, the speculation that the end of the month may be when the television was manufactured was something I didn't think of, and someone else who purchased the television before the manufacture date had the same thing. With the demand of these televisions, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that distribution would have taken about a week for shipping from factory-to-district-to-store.

I'll check on this and see what I can find out. I promise I won't take away any of the warranty. Wink

W4TBE,

Your unit was indeed manufactured in March, 2009.

Hope that helps!
