The usual free path to doing this...

1. Put them on an AudioCD with whatever you use to do that.

2. Run CDEX to rip it back to MP3.

Cheers,

Bob

use dBpowerAMP music converter (youll have to download wma codecs for it first)

Do you need to install the Codec's first?

I just bought a HDD070 off e-Bay for $100. I heard the only downside was the software, but it seemed there were plenty of free options to get around this.

I found that the Illustrate products were mostly 30-day trials. dbPowerAMP is free, but the Power Pack ($14) and SVETA Portable Audio manager ($24) aren't. I think there is bundle for $29. That's not too bad, but kind of sucks to add $30 to the price of the player (when other manufacturers include decent software out of the box).

Plus the headaches of locating good replacement software. I'm honing in on the Illustrate stuff, but...

Any tips on which codec's are needed? Do I need Power Pack, or should I just bite the bullet and pay for the SVETA bundle. Is there a package out there that just does it all? Or, a free one that is decent enough.

I need to a) convert files (mp3 and wma at least), b) organize audio files, c) rip CDs, d) transfer music to the Philips HDD070, and e) tag/id files and folders.

I'll be using Windows XP and have USB ports.

Thanks in advance (good thread guys),
