Question

Changing router to extender/repeater

Dec 30, 2016 12:06PM PST

I apologize if this topic has been discussed before. I currently have a Net Gear WNDR4500 router. I just ordered a new Linksys EA8500 router plus range extender to replace the older router. I don't want to toss out the older one, so I was thinking that I could use this as a repeater/extender for my downstairs living area. Would there be any conflicts with the two different brands? If not, does anyone know of a link that would guide me through the process? I truly appreciate any information on this, and once again apologize if this has been addressed.
