Question

Changing PDF icon to photo icon

Feb 19, 2016 2:22PM PST

Is there a way to make a PDF appear with an image icon (instead of just the generic red and white PDF icon)? More importantly, can I make that icon universal so anyone who opens it, on any computer, see the same image icon I've created?

The image a PDF shows is under control by us. Not you. Again, no.

Such a terse answer

To expand upon Bob's answer ... one can change the icon used for various files on one's own computer, but it will only affect one's own computer.

The icon shown is not an element stored in the file that can travel from machine to machine; rather, the display icon is stored locally on each and every machine, so any changes to the display icon will only affect the machine on which the change has been made.
