Because I've seen homes that have extra lines and you have to connect them in the box. Some homes just have the jacks ready to use so you check for the usual DSL FILTER and remove that for the modem connection (DSL FILTERS have plenty of web pages so I skip what it is and when to install or remove.)
You may want to just try it. You can always undo.
We currently have DSL in our house but I want to change the location of the modem. Now we have a dry loop set up in the house so would it be possible for me to wire the new jack just like the current one and not have an issue or do I need to configure the wires on the outside box.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
