Changing from Adelphia to Comcast and problems

Dec 12, 2006 12:23PM PST

Just want to let everyone know that the transition from Adelphia to Comcast is not the easiest.
Changed my email with CNET. Wanted a confirmation to my email from CNET.
That was difficult because Comcast did not automatically change my email over.
I had to go to a Comcast IT person and receive a new temp password. That worked and I was able to receive my confirmation email from CNET finally after five days and have twelve confirmation email messages from CNET! How about that.
Just wanted to let everyone know. You may have hundreds of requests coming from old Adelphia members.
Who said it would be easy?

Anyone like Comcast? I had no choice.

Thanks everyone,

-Kevin

Change over from Adelphia to Comcast - was not good
Dec 15, 2006 10:10PM PST

I just wanted to add that I am one of the "customers" of the change over from Adelphia to Comcast. It has taken hours of phone and live chat time to get to this point. We were even told and probably wrongly convinced that our network router was bad. $50.00 later we were still having problems. In our situation my husband has the main account and I have a secondary account with my own address and password. On the third day and the fourth hour with Adelphia/Comcast, my husband was switched over to Comcast. His Outlook was working correctly. However no one could figure out how to get me switched over. By this point I could receive email, but I could not send anything out. One Comcast tech finally suggested that I use Adelphia Web Mail to send and retrieve email. He could not explain when or if I could ever use Outlook again. It took only about 5 minutes for me to hate Web Mail. I like being able to use Outlook with its calendar, contact and task features. Not to mention that I can easily sync my PDA. So I got back on Comcast help site and one techy suggested that we try to go into my husband?s account information. He was not sure, but maybe there was something there that might help. We did go in and seemingly were able to add me in. We then used some common sense and updated my Outlook account information. By that point I had two accounts set up. I could now receive email with both the words ?Comcast? or ?Adelphia? in the address, but I still had the problem of sending items out of my Outlook. I spent an additional 2 hours between semi-live chat and phone time and finally got lucky. A tech told me that I needed to change the word "Adelphia" to "Comcast' in my outgoing address for both of my accounts, and it worked.
I am not a computer guru, but I think that the techies should know their products and their customer products better.

Thanks for your input I would imagine there are a lot us us having problems with the transition.
Nice reply on your part. Easy to follow. Excellent!

I think I should have posted to another area of the CNET Forums.
But what the heck, at least CNET is a helping hand for us all.
