Changing folder ownership isn't working?

Mar 4, 2004 2:32PM PST

I am running Windows XP Home.

I am trying to change the ownership of one of my folders. I was given the following instructions:
1. Open My Computer. Go to Tools>Folder Options
2. On the View tab, under Advanced settings, clear "Use simple file sharing [Recommended]".
3. Go t the folder you want to change. Right click, and select properties.
4. Click on the Security tab. Click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab.
In the Change owner to box, click the new owner.

The only problem is, I don't have the "Use simple file sharing" option listed in step 2. It's supposed to be at the bottom of the list, but it's not there. Does anyone know why? I cannot proceed to the other steps without it.
Can anyone help me?
Nick
