Changing Firefox default printer

Aug 29, 2005 11:52AM PDT

Hey, I'm using Firefox and I have several printers listed in the print dialog. I was wondering how I can change the default printer (bumping one up to the top of the list), because only one prints correctly.

OS is Debian Linux but that shouldn't change anything since the config is all in Firefox.

Try this

Try this

clcik start

settings printers

and look at the printers you have

click on the printer that works right click on file and make it the default printer

If you no longer have the other printers then delete them. If your not sure what to do with them then just leave them there and ask the person that put those printers there

Then it should work right when using Firefox

Hope this helps

All I can tell ..

is that I suppose that Firefox somehow puts the system default printer on top. And that makes sense to me. I wonder if PudgyOne realised you were talking about Linux with his suggestion, but it's the same idea.

In fact, I don't even know if Linux has something like a 'default printer'. But I'm afraid that Firefox doesn't support the notion.

The nice thing with Linux and Firefox: it's both open source, and so does have a supporting community around. Feel free to drop you question in some forum at www.mozilla.org.

To get you a little bit on the way: http://www.google.com/search?q=firefox+%22default+printer%22+linux

Hope this helps.

I have only one printer, but...

I have only one printer, however about 4 are listed, whereas every other program (besides Firefox and Thunderbird) lists only one. The one printer I have is set as default though. I guess I'll ask around at mozilla.org, thanks all.
