Question

Changing back to Safari Search on Macbook Pro

Dec 12, 2014 12:47PM PST

I am new to the Apple operating system.
I am learning the basic ways to navigate on Apple versus Windows.
My question is how to I reset Safari as my default browser and or how to I access which browser I want to use.
Right now I have Google Chrome set as default.

because it is Saturday, and I have nothing to do right now, here is an answer or two.

Setting your default browser depends on the version of OS X you are using.

You say you are new to the mac so perhaps you have a new Mac which would be running Yosemite, OS X 10.10

Go to System Preferences > General. (You'll find SP in the dock)
There you will find the Default Web Browser choices. Just click the dropdown menu

The Safari icon should be in the dock, as should the Chrome icon.
To use either browser, just click either of the two icons, however, if you click on a link that is outside of either of the browsers, in an email for instance, the default browser will always launch.

If you have an earlier version of OS X, you will find the choice of Default browser in Safari Preferences > General

Hi,

Choosing a default web browser

1. Open Safari (/Applications).
2. From the Safari menu, choose Preferences.
3. Click the General button.
4. Choose your desired browser from the "Default web browser" pop-up menu.
