Changed Ram without taking the battery out - Damage Done?

Jul 13, 2005 2:24PM PDT

Hi,
I just upgraded the ram for my laptop, but I forgot to
remove the battery before doing that. I know I am supposed to remove the battery before doing that. Windows
does sho the updated ram correctly. My question is whether it is still possible that there may have been damage done (partial maybe) to my ram and windows may not be detecting that damage. In that case how can I make sure that no damage was done to the ram (either to the
old stick or the added one)? Thanks in advance

Dont know...

If the laptop was in the total shut down condition, then I dont think there is a need to take out the battery.

If the OS shows theRAM to be ok, leave it at that.

ram should be fine

As long as your system was fully shut off, your Ram will be fine. The only reason to pull the battery first is to make sure the system is fully shut off, and not just in sleep or hybernation mode.
