Feb 9, 2004 9:28AM PST

Hello,

Just a question of curiosity: Is there any way to change the default Windows Update website, in IE or the Start Panel in the lower left corner, to another another language such as Chinese or Japanese Windows Update website?

Wgen you're inside the "Windows Update" web site, click on "Windows Worldwide" then you can select Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional) and Japanese site. In case you get lost Happy Here are those links (click on them):

Chinese (Simplified)

Chinese (Traditional)

Sorry I didn't state my question clear: What I meant was is there any way to change the default Windows Update English link to the Chinese link, so when I click the "Windows Update" under the Start Menu it will connect directly to the Chinese site? Thank you very much for helping me! I greatly appreciate it.

I don't think you can use that wupdmgr.exe to go to any web site as you wanted. You should create a "short cut" on the desktop area for example:

1. Go to the Chinese (Simplified) site I provided and high-light the entire url address of that site, right-click then select "copy". It will save this link http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/zhcn/default.asp into the clipboard.

2. Go to the Desktop area, right-click then select "New" then "Short Cut".

3. At the "Create Short cut" screen, move the cursor into the area of "Type a Location Of the Item:" then press Ctrl+V to paste the url address you copied into that area.

4. Click "Next" and enter anything you want in to "Type the name of this short cut". In this case, "Windows Updates Chinese (Simplified)". Click "Finish".

Now everytime you double-click on that short cut, you should go directly to the Chinese (Simplified) site.
