Change Hardrive C & D to larger drive.

by bulit / October 16, 2004 12:21 AM PDT

I have a C drive (Fujistsue 7.82GB & D drive (Maxtor 12.7GB)I copied all Window files from C to D thinking I could run with it only to make room for a new 80GB hard drive. The computer will not load Windows without both drives being installed. When they are both installed I get two choices 1. Microsoft Windows XP or 2 Microsoft windows. #2 starts up as 98 & #1 XP. I only want XP. I changed jumper on D to reflect master when I tried just using it. All HELP will be greatly appreciated.

Here's the brutal truth. Windows XP can't be moved this way. You can move the drive, but will have to reinstall XP.

when u connect the 13gb and 80gb? If u can boot ok, ignore the message.
fresh format and install of XP will remove W98 references.
Is this a BIOS/setup problem? D: changes to C: when it is the only drive but XP wants original hardware (8gb)
Evidently u installed XP over W98?
