Center channel sp. mismatch

I have a Denon AVR-2105 receiver, with Harmon Kardon HKTS-14 speakers. Could someone tell me if I purchase a JBL EC-35 for my center channel, would I still get the voice matching and audio panning? I guess what I am asking is would it sound right?? Thanks...

proponents of matching the front three. However, I might be like you... willing to mismatch if that means having a better center. (I wouldnt want to "match" at the expense of having poor sibilant dialogue).

However, although there are a few audio buffs here, I would try a more audio-centric forum for experienced opinions (Ive never heard HK speakers).

If its possible, the best way, as always, is to try and see for yourself. Outside of that, it could be a gamble.

This system comes with a center channel and it has excellent powered sub.

There are different point of views on this speaker matching.
Some say that they have to be perfectly matched or you can just forget about getting good surround sound, this is an ideal.

There are others that say the speakers should at least be the the same brand. I fall into this group.
I do have the JBL EC35 center it sounds very good with my vintage JBL horn loaded speakers.

If the center speaker of the HKTS14 dose not fit your needs then the JBL EC35 could be a good step up for you.
When I'm asked to recommend speaker brands I usually say JBL, HK, Infinity as well as others.
Just make sure you can return the speakers if you don't like how it sounds. John
