Cell Phone Reception

Apr 13, 2005 6:22AM PDT

I live on the Detroit River in a building constructed of concete. I am continually missing calls or unable to make calls with my year old Motorola flip phone. My service provider is Cingular. I am in the market for new cell phone, any suggestions?

Usually what I tell customers is:

What phones do your friends have that works in your place. If it is a business I would recommend nextel. They have building amplifier units that are costly but do great work of boosting signal inside a building. If there is a sufficient need they are worth their weight in gold.

Cingular is now 850/1900Mhz depending where you live.
you should get a dual band (850/1900) or a quad band if you travel (like Motorola V600)
Cingular has gotten a lot better since they bought AT&T
but you need the right phone.
Also there are building antenna boosters, they are good for warehouse and larger buildings.
They are about $2k, they will increase reception in the building
you can get Motorola V600 from www.romeohifi.com
