CDRW / DVD ERROR

Sep 29, 2004 11:39PM PDT

MY PC IS FUJITSU WITH WIN XP PRO. HDD IS AMD K6.

HOW CAN I SOLVE THIS ERROR MESSAGES;
1) REQUEST COULD NOT BE PERFORMED BECAUSE OF AN I/O DEVICE ERROR. IT HAPPENS WHEN WRITING CDs OR PLAYING DVD/VCD.

2) MY CDRW DRIVE DOES NOT RECOGNISE CD-R. IT WILL SAY THAT THERE IS NO DISC IN THE DRIVE. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN TRYING TO WRITE A DISC.

3) IN USING WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 10, TO PLAY A DVD, IT WILL REPORT THAT IT DOES NOT PLAY DVD AND THAT I SHOULD LOWER MY RESOLUTION.

I AM IN USE OF TWO SEPERATE CD-ROM DRIVES -- CDRW & DVD. I HAD BEEN USING THESE DRIVES WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM.

What's your BIOS say?

Are the drives recognized there?

I'd check the seating of the ide cables for both drives, if the problem still exists, reinstall or look for updated 4 in 1 drivers.

Do use any programs that have "virtual drives"? uninstall it for now.
