cdburner won't burn

Mar 23, 2004 3:16AM PST

I just don't understand

A couple of days ago my cd burner stopped showing up when using Nero. I only had the image burn option.(yes it's a ligit copy it came with the drive) so I tried to burn and image with Alcohol 120% and it worked fine. So I reinstalled nero and same thing. Thinking "damn corrupted windows" I repartitioned, reformatted and reinstalled windows.

so now windows is reinstalled and so is nero and same thing

the drive is a lite-on dvd/cd combo drive and it is setup in the device manager and did work before.

what could be wrong is the drive shot?

help me plz

Have you checked the status of the drive in device manager?
Tried uninstall and re-boot?
If you're running an older version of Nero, you may want to visit their website for updates. They are constantly updating support for different burners.

Simplist way to eliminate your system as a problem is to take the drive to another machine and see if it works there. If it fails elsewhere its probably the drive (or cable).

If nothing else changed prior to re-install of windows except the failure, I would suspect the drive.

If anything else was changed prior to the failure such as driver upgrades, new hardware etc. etc. look there for your problem.

You could try other burner software such as Roxio.
