CD-ROMS GONE !!!!

i installed an updated firmware for my
LG CD-RW GCE-8525B. while it was updating it froze, so i closed it. when i rebooted my computer, the CD-ROMS were gone, and the light doesn't even flash at startup. it's dead.

cd drive

Look in add/remove programs for the software that you installed and uninstall if there. Then go to device manager and uninstall the cd drive. Reboot and let Windows install the drivers.

i've done it, the thing is, my CD-RW isn't even on the device manager.

I ususally uninstall the drive, physically. Take it out check the jumper settings. Be sure the jumper is set same as in the bios. I saw a cdrw yesterday that was jumpered CS (cable select). Although it had worked at that setting previously, it stopped working. I changed the setting to secondary master, powered on, and it ran.
Just be sure to set the bios same as the jumper.
