CD-ROM problems

OS: Win98
Compaq Presario Desktop
Cicero CD-RW

I need help with my burner. All the programs that I use for burning give me a message saying that they cannot detect a burner or it is not installed properly. I think I deleted a driver or something by accident so the programs can't detect my burner.
Anybody have any ideas on how I can fix this?

Thanks

1. Has Burner worked with your applications before.

2. Is Burner on applications support list?

3. Is burner still working?
Insert Cd with data or music to check.

First look in Device Mgr and see what device is listed under CDROMS (click the plus mark). It might be seeing it incorrectly. If so, click it, click REMOVE and reboot the computer so windows can detect it again correctly. You don't need separate drivers for it unless you go to the mfr website and see a firmware update available for your model. If you see any yellow exclamation marks next to the device or at your Primary or Secondary IDE controller, let us know.

adaptec drivers

In reply to: CD-ROM problems

these are the latest aspi drivers from adaptec that are used by your cd - just click on the link and they should start down loading:-

ftp://ftp.adaptec.com/software_pc/aspi/aspi_471a2.exe

when the program has down loaded just run and the drivers should be installed.

Even if this isn't the cause it wouldn't do any halm to down load them particularly if u use win98 as many of the driver will be out of date.
