CD Rom problem - have Windows XP

My Hard drive crashed and purchased Windows XP to load. Purchased a CD to bring up with my Family Tree Maker program. It showed the files on the disk directory, but when I tried to bring the cd up on the viewer, it said no disc found. Can anyone help me?
I thought it was the disk, but had the company send me another one. Same thing happened.
