What OS are you running?
Can it real a bootable CD like your Windows installation disk by inserting it when you first turn on the computer?
If it can read a bootable one it sounds like a problem with the os.
Hope you can help me with this! My PC's CDROM will only recognize audio cd's. If I put any other sort of CD in it doesn't recognize there is anything in there "Media not found message"
Reloaded the drivers but makes no difference and no conflicts in Device Manager. Also noted when the PC boots up, it only sometimes recognizes the drive when its checking for IDE devices.
Always plays audio CD's though, never recognizes anything else. At least it's consistent!
Any one else come across this
