CD-ROM drivers are corrupt, can't reload becuase the drivers are on CD.

by Shaun77 / December 20, 2003 7:56 AM PST

I can't find the drivers for NEC NR-7900A CD-ROM anywhere. I have the drivers disc that came from Dell, but of course I can't use it since the CD-ROM doesn't work. Help!

What makes you think it is the drivers? Most of the time it is either a loose cable or the cd drive itself. Have you checked the cables? have you done other troubleshooting on the drive?

what OS are you running? Windows 98 and higher include CD-ROM drivers in the base install and never need other drivers. in the case of a DELL computer, the install version of Windows is on your hard drive. if you see the drive in Device Manager, the drivers are working fine.

there are no needed drivers to support a CD-ROM drive if you are running Windows 98 or newer. if your BIOS sees the drive and Windows can't, it's most likely a dead drive.

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
