Have you updated the audio driver for your particular machine?. An upgrade, such as your's, will probably require the newest driver and should fix the issue. (At least it's worth a try.) Open the Control Panel, double click on the "System" icon, then click on the "Hardware" tab, then click on the "Device Manager" button in WinXP. Click on + sign next to the "Sound, Video and Game Controller" listing, which will display a variety of devices. Find your "onboard" video device, highlight it, then RIGHT click on the device, choose "properties". Write down the Manufacturer's name, the version and date information. You should be able to find the newest driver at the manufacturer's website.
