Jr,
Have you updated the audio driver for your particular machine?. An upgrade, such as your's, will probably require the newest driver and should fix the issue. (At least it's worth a try.) Open the Control Panel, double click on the "System" icon, then click on the "Hardware" tab, then click on the "Device Manager" button in WinXP. Click on + sign next to the "Sound, Video and Game Controller" listing, which will display a variety of devices. Find your "onboard" video device, highlight it, then RIGHT click on the device, choose "properties". Write down the Manufacturer's name, the version and date information. You should be able to find the newest driver at the manufacturer's website.
Hope this helps.

Hi all....I just upgraded to Winxp and the old cdplayer doesn't work now. I looked for some help and found some info that said that the old cdplayer from Win98 doesn't work in XP. So I found a small basic play called CDMax and it is what I am looking for, but it only plays the right channel. If I switch back to Mediaplayer9 in XP, all is OK. So I found another player, I forgot the name of this one, and believe it or not, it only played the right channel also. I am stumped. I am running an Intel 2.4 celeron, and the sound is built into the motherboard. I don't think that that would matter, because Mediaplayer works ok. Any ideas? Thanks
