CD Ripping Sound Level

Jun 27, 2013 3:04AM PDT

Is it possible to get i-Tunes to rip all CD's to a fixed sound level so I don't have to keep changing the output volume level when listening?

Woah. Highest quality?

Then you want to save them AS-IS without any tampering. Your question at top was not about quality so let's get into the quality angle.

The common audio CD is noted at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD-DA which notes "2 channels of LPCM audio, each signed 16-bit values sampled at 44100 Hz" so any rip that re-encodes this would never be the same original quality.

https://www.google.com/search?as_q=archiving+audio+cds fnds this is well discussed and if I wanted to digitize the lot I would create a set of .ISO files so I can recall a digital original.

Also there's a legal mess if you rip all this and toss out the media. The license is that media.

Highest Quality.

Bob. By highest quality I just meant I want it better that the normal I-pod requires so if we purchase something like a Bose system that an I-Pod can be plugged into we get near CD quality in the house. Of course it will be completely wasted on my ear buds and in my car, but I've got 320gb of space on my i-pod for music. Might as well get it as good as I can.
