First, all capitals and one paragraph is just hard to read.
Regarding your issue. The usual backflips are:
1. CD Len Cleaner.
2. Get another make media.
3. Update the motherboard drivers.
4. Update the CDRW FLASH.
5. Uninstall/reinstall the CD recording software and update such from the maker's web site.
6. Change the drive.
CDRW drives have finite lifespans and this is just one sign the drive may have failed.
If the unit has another DVD/CD drive (information MISSING in your post), you can find a KNOPPIX CD and see if K3b can record something as a hardware test. Read http://tips.oncomputers.info/archives2004/0401/2004-Jan-11.htm

MY REWRITER KEEPS ASKING FOR BLANK DISK WHEN I ATTEMPT TO COPPY FILES ONTO CD ROM DISK. IT WORKED FINE AT FIRST AND WILL READ CD ROM DISKS OR PLAY AUDIO CD.
