CD-R burner not recognized

Nov 11, 2004 9:44PM PST

I am running ME on a 4 year old Compaq Presario that is in excellent condition.

When I upgraded WMP to version 9, my CD-R drive vanished. I use the Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4 and Adaptec Direct CD 3 programs that came with the computer to burn CDs.

I have gone into Device Manager to attempt to delete and re-boot, but the drive isn't there! Also, trying to re-establish defaults in the BIOS hasn't worked either. I suspect that the Media Player upgrade may be the cause of my difficulties because the burner doesn't get used that frequently.
