I can write a cd but when I try to look at what is on the CD, it tells me the file is corrupted.

"Tip: If you are asking for help to troubleshoot a computer-related problem, please be sure to include all the necessary information (ie: operating system, model number, hardware, software, etc) that will help others identify your problem for a speedy resolution."

No mention of the age of the CDRW drive, software used and more.

At this point, nothing is certain about cause or cure.

What more could you reveal?

It is a CD-RW and I am not sure if another could read it

Leonard, Here Are Some Things To Check
Dec 14, 2003 4:07AM PST

First, see if another computer can read the CD-RW disk that you burned. Another machine probably won't read it either, but it's worth a try.

Next, because CD-RW disks can eventually "wear out", try a new, good quality, CD-RW disk and see if that fixes the issue. I recently tossed a couple at work because they had been "written to" so many times that they weren't accessible any more.

You still haven't given us much information about the specific things you have tried.

1. Which program are using to burn the CD?

2. Are you burning a data or music CD? (Remember that if you're burning a music CD, then many standard CD players won't be able to read it because it's CD-RW.)

3. Are you using a packet writing program (InCD, or DirectCD) which allows for files to be copy/paste, or drag/drop to the CD? Or are you simply burning the CD from the standard Nero or Easy CD Creator program?

4. How old is the CD-RW burner?

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes.

You revealed it was some Cendyne unit.

1. Does it work on another machine?
2. Did you try a CD lens cleaner?
3. Did you try other media?
4. HOW did you use NERO to create the CD?
5. Did you doublecheck that your media was good for the record speed? HINT-HINT!!! I received some 16X media that Nero would try to record at 48X. Every CD that happened to was a coaster. You need to watch out for such.
