CD Newbie

Mar 25, 2005 5:00AM PST

Greetings folks! I have an old PC with Windows 98 OS. I?m thinking of getting a CD burner for it. My main need for it is to burn files and documents so that I can keep backups. What should I be looking for in terms of compatibility, brand names, wiring connection (USB??) etc. (assuming I know nothing of these things)?

Any and all thoughts would be most appreciated and much welcome. Thank you!

You haven't given any info re computer specs so let's assume that the machine can accept the cd burner. I would suggest you "google" some questions, i.e cd requirements, how to install etc. Look on some other sites for guides (PC911, Pc world.com etc) has some excellent references.
Why not a DVD burner, cheap, more versatile and increased storage

One might even give concideration to an external like the usb you mentioned if this puter poops out you still have the cd or dvd to take to the new one.
