It's not stored on the CD anywhere. It's an algorithm in the setup program that checks to see if it's valid or not.

If you've already installed Windows, you can get it that way, just not off the CD.

(NT) (NT) No. Because the key is not on the CD.

The CD-Key was not retrieved from the CD.

Test environment was a Windows 95 box and the Full XP Pro SP2 CD.

It didn't work.

locate it by using either keyfinder or Belarc. That is if you haven't already reinstalled the operating system.

Most notebooks and many desktops will have a sticker attached to the computer that has the product key number listed. Check the bottom on the notebook or the side of the desktop case and see if it is there.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
