The HP model case can be laid on its side. It does have padded rubber bumpers for this purpose, being in this position the problem doesn't appear. Placing a monitor on its PC case isn't a problem if so done. adios -----Willy ![]()
Problem: CD/DVD drive won't open.
Here is the PC specs, HP-s7320n model with 1gb ram, 1.60cpu and 200gb HD, and CD/DVD drive. This is the slimline model series.
The small form and space saving is a plus for many. The CD/DVD itself is mounted "on-end or side". Pressing the button, only makes the drive "plunk noise" as it tries to open. Even using the access hole doesn't work. I can only determine the previous user had repeatedly done that as scratches and scrapes around the drive open is apparent. Since the replacement drive literally has to be the newer "short length" version which I didn't have and cost for the cheap PC. Guess what, having the PC cover off and being on its side help determine the problem. For whatever reason(probable wear&tear) it allows the drive to open. It maybe that gravity and plastic rest are seating the drive into a minor catch and the motor can't overcome that. Once right-side UP it doesn't encounter that and is able to open. NO! I didn't open drive up to examine issue as that may compromise the drive entirely.
The real fix, is a new CD/DVD but that is added cost. Sooner or later another drive will be available, "used".
I hope the above helps others. enjoy
