CD/DVD Drives not being recognize for Windows XP

I have a Gateway Desktop computer and all of a sudden my CD/DVD Rom drives are not being recognize. The wires are all hooked up correctly but when I go into my computer where you can see all the drivers it is not there. I have one driver to play CD/DVD and another one to burn CD's.....please help...
