CD drives not working ..

I have not had a problem with either my CD drive or my CD/RW/DVD drive until a couple weeks ago, when all of a sudden they won't work. I have tried the uninstall route and the computer will recognize them as new hardware when I reboot but still they don't work. Does anyone have an other suggestions on what to check? Thanks

Save yourself a lot of time and...

Try a new drive in that position. If it works you found the issue.
