CD Drive detects but wont load

Nov 15, 2004 10:07AM PST

I just got my computer back from the shop for a bad Bios that they reset and now it works but when i put a disc in my disc drive..the light on the front of my Sony blinks saying that drive is running and i can hear it but when i try and load stuff off the CD it doesnt load. When i go into My Computer and click on the F: drive icon after i put my CD in for my new printer it gives me the message "F:/ Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WhiteProcessMemory request was completed.". And if i put in an audio CD it opens iTunes to play it, lists the songs but doesnt play them. It even says on the icon the name of whats in there but cant load it. I want to install this printer now with the CD it came with it but i cant. Unless there is another way i can without the CD? Thats my other problem..but for right now the Drive doesnt load anything. Thanks for the help

The test.

The test I use is to try to boot from said drive. If it can't boot, then we try another drive.

Some owners can't accept drive failures, so help can be problematic. This test is easy...
