Question

CD Burning

Sep 23, 2011 12:52PM PDT

Is anyone having problems burning cds since upgrading to Lion? When I try a standard disc I get a warning saying there is a media problem. If try to burn a rewritable disc it works fine; until it gets played in the car. In my toyota it works fine but not in my girlfriends Honda. This never used to happen. It happens every time now. What is up?

How are you burning the disks, through Finder or with Toast (or similar)?

I always use iTunes. MacBook early 08 black, 4 gigs ram. This only started after Lion upgrade. I get the "media write error" at the very end at finish. So the cd is good for about 30 or 40 min. then quits. Some discs won't play in diff car players. This never happened before. Some of the forums say to burn at slower speed, but why?

Why.

There is a CDR FAQ that covers this so I must keep this short. As the drive ages the laser dims and frankly slower requires less power.

I'm unsure why the advice is questioned without doing a little research.
