cause of shortcuts on desktop not working?

by imgrateful_1 / March 26, 2014 9:49 PM PDT

Yesterday I installed the new version of Malwarebytes Pro. After I did that NONE of the shortcuts work on the desktop ?????? The links don't work either. taskbar by the clock. (Favorites Bar) When I try to open any page all I get is a white page. Even then its slow to come up. Program shortcuts work. Task bar shortcuts work. So what did I do.? I hate this, not having the short cuts working. Everyone knows how valuable they are in the regular daily use of our computers. Thanks for any help on this. imgrateful_1 always. This is on a WIN 7 dsk top.
Gateway computer.

I tried something
by imgrateful_1 / March 26, 2014 11:46 PM PDT
In reply to: sorry

Thanks for your post. I didn't go to the link you provided yet, but I uninstalled Malwarebytes. Then rebooted and tried all the short cuts. Guess what, that program was screwing up the works. now the short cuts work and also the links list (favorites bar links) So now Malwarebytes is off the computer. But then It can't be used for keeping the computer clean!!! Someone explain this. Before I made the change yesterday the program was installed via a disk paid PRO version. From WorldStart. it was out of date version. (1.70.) So doesn't it make sense to want to update version when you become aware that the version you have is out of date? What can I do. Malwarebytes is a good program!!! Now days you can't be over protected, right? Please help me with this. Thanks.

Not sure

that you need the Pro; try the free version of MBAM, without real-time protection, to see what happens. Should you be running any other software providing real-time protection concurrently, there might be a clash between the two - and an explanation. Yes, you can be over-protected.

My response to using free version

I installed the original version 1.70 from the disk. Life Time. But now Malwarebytes are bringing on something new. Its going to be a paid version only. So much a year for 3 computers. I learned this from going to youtube and watch a video there. Also I got an email today from Malwarebytes on this very thing. Special offer on covering 3 computers. Thanks for all the responses. Its always possible to leave here having learned something new; like the link for fixing broken shortcuts. So thanks for that bit of information.

Yes, you can purchase the "paid for" version, and yes, there is a new 2.0 version, but if you want to try the free one, here's the link:

Hope this helps.
