My 1993 Lincoln Continental has just under 51,000 miles on it. It drives great. The problem is that last month we drove it on a very hot day for a round trip of 80 miles. When we parked in our driveway it was making the strangest noise we have ever heard in our 60 yrs of driving. Under the center of the car it was 'huffin and puffin, muffled pops and rattles'. I went online and read that it could possibly be a bad catalytic converter. We don't know of any other system that is under the center of the car.
Any ideas? I don't want to take the car out of town until I have an idea as to what caused that noise.
