There is a competition in the market now a day about networking cables, different companies manufacture networking cables cat5e, cat6, and cat7 plenum. There is also a difference in cables and companies.

My view is your IT lead is being sold a bill of goods. That is, they need to be put in check by a more seasoned networker.

Our Government Offices Use Cat5 Here Also...

It's the most commonly available, it's cheaper, and it supports our needs, even over fairly long runs of a 100-150 feet or so. Although it may matter if a company is not creating cable which supports the specifications, we never had problems with a variety of companies that entered our bidding processes.

Hope this helps.

1000 feet is beyond the spec.

I worry your IT staffer is green as they come. Even the best Cat7 is a 50 foot maximum. To go past 100 meters, what is your staffer planning to use?

there is 1000 fit length in Cat6
Jul 13, 2017 1:55PM PDT

I have read on a website they have published that the length of Cat6 is 305 Meter its mean that 1000FT.
if you want any information about 1000ft length then told me.

You are beyond the spec.

There are websites that push the limits and you've found such. No IT staffer I know will deploy beyond the specs.

Now I see why folk get into trouble. They ignore specs, drink the Koolaid and the company and users suffer.

Take my advice and save your job. Stay inside the specs.

Anything Beyond 100 Meters Is Not Reliable and...

...as Bob states, is beyond the specifications of such cable. If you really don't want to have problems in the future, stay within the specifications of your cable and devices. You need to look for other options such as a switch or two in the middle, fiber optics, etc.

Hope this helps.
