I used my PC to convert LP to CD. If I wanted to convert cassettes I'd use my PC also.
If you already have a PC the additional cost is zero, except maybe a cable to connect the line-out or headphone connector of your cassette player to the line-in of your PC. Audacity to record the music is free. Software to burn an audio-CD is free also. Userfriendlyness of a PC is debatable.

I agree with you on your suggested approach with Audacity, etc. However, this request is for my wife who is not as computer knowledgeable as perhaps yourself. Any further suggestions as to some sort of computer hardware that could do the job?
Thank you for your prompt response.

The computer hardware I see is just some box/jack/player and Audacity instructions.

There are Audio CD recorders out there but these are pretty limited as to trimming the beginning and end of the tape or track.

Frankly I'd get over the PC/Computer phobia since it's the best way to do this well. Here's such a recorder but I find most upset over the lack of trimming or other controls.

Yes it's hundreds of bucks but sidesteps the computer.
