Case for ipod touch

Jul 5, 2009 2:28AM PDT

I bought an 8gb ipod touch 2nd gen and i need a case. The case i want is just something to store it in (and protect the screen as well) so i can keep it in my backpack, etc... I also prefer that i can keep it in the case while its on (therefore it needs to be have hole for the earphones to be connected while inside it. I looked online but can't really tell whether the case covers the whole ipod (including the front) or not and whether i can plug earphones into it while its inside the case. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks!

From DLO: Hipcase Nylon and Hipcase Folio and yes, you will be able to plug your earphones in while in the case. I buy a bunch of cases for my iPods (I own 5 that I have cases for, each one has at least 3 cases) - and almost all of them will allow you to plug your earphones while the player is still inside the case. I would say all of them but there might be one or two that don't. However, this means the area around the headphone port will be uncovered. Usually the dock connecting area will be uncovered as well. I find both to be true of most cases.

My favorite cases are from Vaja. They're expensive. They're customizable. They're made in and ships from Argentina.

Between these cases - which do you think is the best

Otterbox: "Impact case" vs "defender case" vs "armor case" vs Switcheasy: "Neo Touch case"

Thanks and thanks for all the other suggestions!

I think it's between...

Otterbox's Defender and Switcheasy's Neo Touch.
The impact case doesn't offer any sort of screen protection. The armor case appears to add bulk and I think it's rather ugly. But, if you really think you're going to get it wet and/or for certain accidentally drop it in water, then maybe you should get that.

I find the Neo Touch to be a good compromise between protection and looks (though you probably don't care about that).

The Neo Touch doesn't seem to...

...offer much in the way of screen impact protection.

This is what I used to protect my 32GB 2G Touch:

Called the Belkin Folio, I admit it's not sexy. It just plain protects. Currently a bit over $12 on Amazon. Provides a lot better protection for the screen than these silly cases that primarily protect only the BACK of the Touch, ironically the toughest and least vulnerable part of the device. Consequently with the Folio I feel much more at ease when I literally toss my Touch into my camera bag or backpack.
