That said the display starts at the mainboard and from there cables and driver boards to the LCD. So it's from there to there. I must write that you should not fall for the TCON advice here since a large display should have two and for both to fail is unusual.
The service manual would be needed so to check out the power supply. That manual is about 12 bucks at www.samsungparts.com for the US and ask at samsung.com where for other countries. To me that 12 bucks is a test to see if the tech is serious about attempting the repair.

Hi all,
So, my friend has a Samsung model UN55Ks8000fxzc that is a couple of years old.
Recently, the screen stopped showing images and instead just shows wide vertical colour stripes down the screen. You can see minor "shifts" in the stripes when the remote is used to attempt to navigate around.
It's pretty clear either a card has gone or the display is gone. I'm told there's been no impact or trauma to the device.
Has anyone had a similar experience and what did it end up being? They'd like to understand at least a couple of possible causes before getting a repair person out to their place to look at it.
