Car won’t move

I was driving my Honda Fit the other night and all of the sudden it made a loud noise and would not accelerate. The engine was still running but would not move in drive or reverse. When I put it in park it makes very loud sounds. I am getting it looked at tomorrow, but was hoping to get advice on what could be wrong beforehand.

Would be nice to have model year, age, which transmission.

We're not there to hear the sounds or feel along with out but it does sound like transmission failure. Honda's trans were "OK" but I learned that you must change the trans oil even on models that have "lifetime" transmission fluid. This is not going to be accepted by a blue blooded Honda service center but those outside that system know that you should change it. Say at 160KM or 100K miles.
