Car dealers

Mar 18, 2011 8:47PM PDT

G day , I rushed out and bought a 2nd hand prado. When i looked at it, it looked fine, but when I got it home and upon further inspection I have now found rust up under the dash, under the seats. So I think the cat has been under salt water. It has been 1 day since i signed for the car.
Can anyone offer me some advice on what legal stance I have? Dose the dealership have to refund my hard earned money, or i'm stuck with a $15k rust bucket?

Bring the car back, show the dealer and see what he says. Threaten legal action. This is why it pays to get a car checked by an independent mechanic first before purchasing.

i think its all good

I might have jumped the gun a bit, i have noe gutted the inside of the car and its all good.
The bolt on bits are rusty ( surface rust, like if you leave a raw piece of steel in the weather for about 2 weeks), but its repairable.
Theres lots of beach sand under the carpet, and theres moistor, but the shell is near perfect, ie floor pan & nothing but dust in the door shell.
My thoughts now are , maybe the people that owned it before me had a dog or two, and liked the beach, not giving a **** about the car, letting the dogs and kids get in covered in beach sand. This in turn, with the windows up and the humity high, causing the pertenital to rust all the bolt on bits, like brackets, bolts, springs ect.
Thx for your thoughs dan , but it should be all good.

Hello,
You should have inspected the used vehicle there itself before buying. A tech person should have been with you while buying the car. Now you can do one thing check for the used car dealers laws and see if you can do anything.
You can check out on below article some laws see if they help you. Best Of Luck
