Capture DV reorded in ESP or ELP mode...

Apr 15, 2006 2:49AM PDT

I am trying for the first ever time to capture video from my Canon ZR50MC camcorder. Video recorded in the SP mode will capture just fine but any that was recorded in the ESP (Extended SP) or ELP (Extended LP) modes will not. Firewire is good, PC is good, I have tried using WMM, WinDV, Ulead, etc. and all will capture the SP mode video but not the ESP or ELP.

Does ANYONE know how I can capture the video that was recorded in the ESP or ELP modes?

Thanks,
Jeff

"what is the downside? First, tapes recorded in these extended modes (ESP and ELP) will not be compatible with most other Mini DV devices. Second, neither mode is DV-compatible, meaning that you will not be able to capture or transfer DV data over an IEEE 1394 connection."

Unless Ulead or Canon have a fix, you'll have to play it out via analog and digitize it with some analogue capture card.

Only if you are using the camera that it was recorded on.
I have done this with my Sony D8mm.
Compatibality is only at the MiniDV SP mode.
At the other speeds YOU must use the camera the tape was recorded on. John
