cant watch avi formats

quicktime says it says i need to download something but i dont know what and i cant download wmp because it is in a sitx whenever i try. please help cause i dont know what to do.

To download that type of file you need Stuffit Expander. Google for it.
Once you have it you can decode the .stx files and download WMP to your hearts content

VLC is a shareware program for the Mac that will play almost anything. No time limit on the free version.
