Cant use 64 bit Chess engine?

by Y4 / December 18, 2007 9:42 PM PST

I have recently picked up an HP with an Athlon AMD64 3200+ 2.2gh processor thinking I would be able to use a 64bit chess engine on it through an Arena interface. Arena supports 64bit chess engines, but I'm still unable to install a 64bit chess engine. Any clue as to why?

Windows XP, service pack 2, all updates. No viruses or malware.
1 gig of RAM.

Thanks for your help.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
