Question

Can't send MS Access files to Novell groupwise

Sep 2, 2015 5:39AM PDT

Hi, I can't export any MS Access 2010 files to Groupwise 8 or 12 as an attachment. I can use this function in MS Outlook and can also send a file in Excel/Word to Groupwise as an attachment. Can you please assist me in this matter?
Thanks

Answer
You are sending a file.

So here's my workaround. Keep in mind there may be OTHER ISSUES as the file is too big.

Email is not the right choice for sending past a few megabytes so I'll take it you know that and what the limits are. To send really big files I put the file on a shared space on the server and tell folk where to get it.

-> OK, if the file won't send and it's under the size limit, here's my old trick. Rename it to .PDF or other. Then tell the recipient to rename it on their end.

Don't want to rename? You'll have to convince your Groupwise administrator to change the rule on that.

Hi R. Proffitt
The problem is that I can't attach any Access files to Groupwise of even the small files.

Bob already supplied a solution for your issue.

By the way, it's the same in my company's Exchange/Outlook. If somebody sends me an MS Access database via mail it's blocked as a security risk (like a .exe is blocked).
