Cant see anything but the REcylcing bin in desktop!!!!!

I just reinstalled xp...it got in and i can only see the recycling bin in the desktp. I cant find internet explorer, my computer, network etc in the desktp? did i do anything wrong during installation?

Also how do i enable the firewall?

That is the default look

You can add items to the desktop by creating shortcuts or select show on desktop.
