cant network laptop and desktop

Aug 23, 2004 1:04PM PDT

okay i took my laptop to bestbuy....damn thing worked fine there...with there router...came back home...and ntohing! so im just thinking its the router. BUT, ive bought a new router already..a cheap one by the way from walmart ...now is could there be some kind of hardware conflict between the laptop and the rounter? the desktop works fine with the router, but the laptop does not. now i connect the cable modem straight to the laptop and works fine....could it be the router? and why would the new router not work neither?

Installing an OS strains a person's capabilities. Most overlooked are drivers that need updating but are not done by Microsoft.

So far, your posts look like the usual. A missing motherboard driver or a setting in the Wifi is off. Connecting a laptop via the ethernet tosses more strain on the owner since they may need to open a command prompt at times and type...

IPCONFIG /RELEASE

This command will vary with the OS, so your skill is needed since I will not hold hands.
