Cant modify registry values, cant delete file or folder...

by arun07cbe / August 4, 2010 11:24 PM PDT

Hi everyone,
I have the following problems in my office desktop..

1) First of all, im unable to change the registry values and also im not able to create a new value inside the registry editor. Its says " An Error in creating or renaming the value".

2) Im not able to delete the file or folder inside my customized folder.
It says "Access denied. Make sure that the disk is not full or write protected or the file currently in use."

I want to know what is happening around my PC, is there any link between these two problems...

Any thoughts... Share with me...

Research XP TAKE OWNERSHIP to learn more. Also, try SAFE MODE.

As to the registry, the registry has permissions and ownership or "security" features that you may need to learn about. Here's a starter link (one of many) ->

It seems to me

that you are having multiple problems with this system.

Firstly, is this Windows XP or Windows 7? In your thread, Expanding the size of the C drive, you say you are using Windows 7. Since this is the Windows XP forum you are posting in the wrong forum.

Also, in your thread, cant delete a file or folder, you say you have installed SUPERSpyware and now cannot delete a file or folder.

Maybe there's some history you are not telling us?

you could use TweakUI from Microsoft and set it
so the admin shows up on the logon screen. Then logon
as admin.
